IncaBlocks – Review
November 1, 2009

IncaBlocks is a family friendly, 1-4 player action/puzzle game and costs 80 MS points.
IncaBlocks is a competitive puzzle game which is played with up to four players. The game idea is similar to Tetris in which you must place blocks in a 3D space. Each player takes turns until the level has been filled and completed.
The Objective of the game is simple – you must guide blocks into the correct position with each block touching a previous block you have placed. You can do this by using the right analogue stick to move the block into the correct place. You can change the shapes rotation by using the D-pad. Tip: Use the left analogue stick to move the camera into the best position suitable for you. Note: The camera moves up to 360 degrees. Each time you place a block, the block changes size or shape and the size of the square you place them into gets bigger or smaller.

After each stage the level increases in difficulty, but you start to get used to it as you gradually begin to understand how the game is played. In total they are 7 stages – in each stage, the structure of the level increases. Each time it gets increased, the more blocks you have to place and the more turns you and your opponent have.
The game has a rain forest theme which is repeated throughout the game, which is drawn well, making it match the style of the game. The user interface is well detailed and well designed, helping to understand the game fully. Such as rotating round the level, which helps you view the full play area. As for the music, I think it goes well with the theme of the game, but found that it gets a bit repetitive as it just loops the same song over and over again.
The side bar features; your score and your opponents score. In the bottom right corner it shows your avatar and also your opponent’s avatar. Each time you place a block, your avatar does a taunt, it jumps or dances for correct placement or will get all angry if it’s in the wrong placement.
Overall – I think IncaBlocks puzzling and challenging all at the same time. The difficulty curve of the game allows you to pick things up at a nice pace and over time you learn to develop strategies to benefit yourself and hinder your opponents. The game is well put together and is good for a few hours of entertainment, with some friends or family.
In total I give this a 8/10 and I think it is definitely worth 80 ms points.
